Hidden among the lush green landscapes of Karnataka, Varahi Backwaters is a peaceful destination surrounded by hills, forests, and beautiful water views. It is formed by the Varahi Dam and is especially scenic during the monsoon, when the entire region turns fresh and green. 🌧️🌿
I had been hearing about this place for a long time. A few people in our group had already visited it multiple times, so it was definitely on my list.
After completing our Nethravathi Trek, we planned to visit Varahi Backwaters. Our original plan was simple — reach by noon, enjoy the surroundings, and, if possible, spend some time in the water in the evening. 🌊
But as always, travel plans have a way of changing! 😄
We added a visit to Elaneeru Falls and even stopped along the way to cook our lunch. 🍳 By the time we reached Varahi Backwaters, it was already late evening.
The next morning, we woke up early and decided to explore the place before starting our journey back home.
The viewpoint was around 1.5 km from our homestay, so it was an easy walk. But the weather had other plans. The rain kept playing hide and seek throughout the day. 🌦️
With limited time, we simply walked to the viewpoint, enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, clicked a few pictures 📸, and spent some peaceful moments near the backwaters.
Since we didn’t have life jackets, we decided not to get into the water. Safety first! 👍
Our visit to Varahi Backwaters was short and mostly limited to a photo session. But sometimes, even a quick stop at a beautiful place becomes a memorable part of the journey. ❤️
After spending some time there, we returned to our homestay and got ready for our next destination — Kavaledurga Fort.
Varahi Backwaters may not have gone exactly as planned, but the peaceful views, fresh monsoon air, and green surroundings made it worth the stop. 🌿✨
