Elaneeru Falls was not part of our original plan. After completing the Nethravathi Trek, we started towards Varahi Backwaters, where we had already booked our stay.
Just after starting the journey, our driver suggested stopping at Elaneeru Falls. Since it was on our route, we decided to give it a try. Sometimes, the best travel experiences are the ones you never planned! 😊
Our driver told us that the falls were just 100 metres from the parking area. But in reality, it turned out to be almost 2 km one way! 😄
Since we were travelling in a TT, the narrow road made it difficult to take the vehicle all the way. Smaller cars and 4×4 vehicles can get much closer to the entrance.

After walking for a while, we finally reached the falls. The entrance fee was ₹50 per person, as the waterfall is located on private
There are two sides to explore.
First, we walked around 500 metres to the viewpoint, where visitors can enjoy the beautiful waterfall but are not allowed to enter the water. The sight of the water flowing through the green surroundings was beautiful, especially with the monsoon rain. 🌧️🌿

After spending some time taking photos 📸, we headed to the other side, where we could actually get into the water.
Initially, we decided not to enter because we hadn’t carried extra clothes. But once we saw the full-flowing waterfall, we simply changed our minds! 😄

Standing under the waterfall while the rain continued to pour was incredibly relaxing. 💦❤️ It was one of those simple moments that made the unexpected stop completely worthwhile.
Since it was raining throughout the journey, we were already completely wet. After enjoying the waterfall, we walked back to our TT and changed our clothes inside the vehicle.
This unexpected stop did change some of our other plans, but honestly, it was worth it! 😍
Carry extra clothes, footwear with good grip and a waterproof bag. If you’re travelling in a large vehicle like a TT or bus, be prepared to walk because the approach road is narrow.
Final Thoughts
Elaneeru Falls was never on our itinerary, but it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable stops of the trip. Sometimes, the unplanned places become the best memories. ❤️
If you’re exploring the Western Ghats during the monsoon, keep Elaneeru Falls on your list and enjoy the magic of a waterfall in full flow! 🌧️🌿
