We haven’t visited the beach in a long time, so we decided to go to Kundapura. We booked a stay at Glucklich Beach Cottages. It’s not too crowded right now, making it a great place to enjoy the water and watch the sunset.
For water sports and boat rides, we found an option at Kodi Beach, just 8 kilometers away from our cottages.
About Kodi Beach – It’s a beautiful stretch of golden sand near Kundapura, popular among tourists and locals for sun, beach, and sea enjoyment. The Delta Point, where the Pancha Gangavali River meets the Arabian Sea, makes the beach even more attractive. At this Delta Point, five rivers—Souparnika, Chakra, Kubja, Varahi, and Kedaga—merge into the Arabian Sea, earning it the name Panchagangavali Delta point. Standing on the sea walk, you can see these five rivers joining the sea.
Kodi Beach is about 5 kilometers from Kundapura. Buses run every 30 minutes, or you can take an auto-rickshaw.
Things to do at Kodi Delta Beach:
- Surfing – It’s a popular adventure sport here, suitable for both amateurs and pros. There’s even a surfing club called “Shaka Surf Club” that provides lessons.
- Boat Tour into the Mangroves – Take a boat ride in the backwaters filled with mangroves. It’s a great spot for photographers. The cost is Rs. 1500 per boat for 10 to 15 people.
- Kayaking to Island – Try kayaking for Rs. 300 per person, and the ride lasts for 1 hour.
- Scuba Dive – A new exciting addition to this wonderful place is scuba diving, and it’s offered by Meridian Adventures. The fee is Rs. 3000 per person. They even provide certification classes for scuba diving.
