After a long day of travel and unexpected adventures, we finally arrived at Mawlynnong, Asia’s cleanest village, around 8:00 PM. Even though it was dark, we could already sense the calm and well-kept atmosphere. Being a Sunday, most restaurants were closed, so we grabbed a quick dinner at the only open spot and wrapped up our long day.

The next morning, we were excited to explore this famous village. We decided to be ready by 5:00 AM to make the most of the early daylight. 😊

As I stepped out of the room, I was greeted by the beautiful sight of a Black-crested Bulbul.

Mawlynnong is known for its spotless streets, eco-friendly lifestyle, and beautiful gardens. The villagers’ respect for nature is clear everywhere you look.

Our day began with a stroll through the village. Flowers lined the paths, bamboo baskets were set up for trash, and the homes were so tidy. You can really see how much pride the villagers take in keeping their surroundings clean, and the community spirit is felt in every part of the village.

It was so refreshing to be in such a quiet, neat place. Unlike other tourist spots, Mawlynnong was peaceful, making it the perfect place to relax and connect with nature.

The locals are warm and welcoming. We even met a few fellow travelers from Bengaluru and had a great chat, sharing travel stories and enjoying the morning together.

Mawlynnong isn’t just a tourist spot; it’s an example of living in harmony with nature. The calm village atmosphere and beautiful scenery made our visit memorable. Walking along the clean streets with my friends, surrounded by nature, was a refreshing break from our busy lives.

After spending a few hours soaking up the village’s charm, we took some group photos and made our way back. Mawlynnong reminded us that small actions really can make a big difference in protecting the environment.

For lunch, we tried a simple but delicious meal of local Khasi dishes. The food was fresh and had flavors unique to the region, giving us a real taste of Meghalaya.

If you’re ever in Meghalaya, make sure to visit this amazing village. It’s the perfect mix of natural beauty, cultural richness, and sustainable living.
